The village of Pitsidia is one of the southernmost villages in Crete. It is located at an altitude of 80 m, at a distance of about 70 km from the airport of Heraklion and 100 km from the airport of Chania.
It is in an area of unique natural beauty and climate, with archeological and historical monuments and most importantly a crystal clear sea. Adding to these aspects is the people’s unending hospitality, who always have something to offer all visitors who come and decide to stay.
The small family taverns with the delicious, traditional food, the traditional cafes with raki and coffee, and the small traditional mini markets make your stay all the more pleasant. The village also has the well-known horse race centre ‘Melanouri’ which often organises excursions around the area.
Some of the more interesting elements of the Cretan culture can be found in the nearby villages Sivas and Kamilari. In addition, the seaside resorts of Matala, Agia Galini and Kalamaki are located at very short distances, three of the most breathtaking seaside villages the area has to offer with many tourists visiting them each year.
About a fifteen minute’s drive away is the town Mires, where a local flee market with interesting goods is held every Saturday.
